The University Philosophy
In pursuing its mission and vision, JUG provides for its constituent excellence in: Teaching and Learning. Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity. Civic Engagement, Locally, Nationally, and Globally. With each of these core activities characterized by: Collaboration within and across disciplines and with the community, A commitment to ensuring diversity, and Pursuit of best practices. The philosophy of the University is centered on the following:
- To produce a critical mass of God-fearing, morally, and intellectually sound graduates.
- To have the graduates skillfully empowered for community service and societal transformation.
- To prepare, completely educate and equip the graduates to provide balanced leadership to Nigeria, Africa, and the world.
The philosophy of the University is in line with the National Policy on Education (NPE) which recognizes the importance of values in nation building. It is also stated that the quality of instruction at all levels of education has to be oriented towards inculcating the following values:
- Respect for the worth and dignity of the individual.
- Faith in man’s ability to make rational decisions.
- Moral and spiritual principles in inter-personal and human relations.
- Share responsibility for the common good of society.
- Promotion of physical, emotional, and psychological development of all
